Acclaimed as one of the greatest poets of the 20th century Federico Garcia Lorca distilled into his works the very essence of Spain and his native Andalucia, the searing heat and riotous colours, joys and passions, comedies and tragedies.

Simpatico Flamenco have now re-created Lorca’s best known play “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” into a visually and aurally stunning 110 minutes of fiery Flamenco dance theatre. The tempestuous story tells of a tyrannical matriarch’s efforts to control her four wayward daughters, their filial jealousies and murderous rivalries, as each vies for the attentions of the same man with disastrous consequences.

Choreographed by Helena (Sadlers Wells, BBC TV, Channel 4, etc) the international company of dancers, guitarists, percussionist, singer and narrator feature Helena, Rosario Serrano (Ballet Rambert, Duende Flamenco Company), rising dance star El Nino Fuego, a quartet of gifted dancers, the rich cante jondo voice and dynamic percussion of Manuel de Cadiz and the passionate Flamenco guitars of Steve Homes and company.

In a 110 minute spectacular of 18 scenes with many costume changes, narration in Spanish and English and dramatic lighting, Simpatico Flamenco create a Flamenco theatre performance of a kind rarely seen on UK stages, a passionate and dramatic re-telling of “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” which portrays the warring household as they argue, fight, love and, ultimately, destroy their family.
